 S.A.F.E., a Student Assistance Program, helps families and youth in the Santa Fe and Hitchcock school districts. Among the services S.A.F.E. offers are:
- Curriculum-based support groups
- Violence prevention education
- Life skills workshops
- Community updates on ATOD/HIV
- Drug prevention education
- Teen parenting classes
- Information and referral services
- Youth activities
- Summer Program for youth/children
Services are free and provided by qualified staff. Activities are conducted with the support of community organizations and families of Hitchcock and Santa Fe.
The S.A.F.E. Program began in Santa Fe, Texas in 1994 with a grant awarded to the Mark Kilroy Foundation from the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Since its inception, S.A.F.E. has been supported by individuals, community-based organizations, and grants from Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
S.A.F.E. is a community and school-based program designed to assist students and meet the needs of families in the community. In collaboration with the following agencies and programs, we hope to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve: Children And Youth: 2001,Family Service Center of Galveston County, Phoenix House Council for Drug Education for the Bay Area,D.A.R.E., G.R.E.A.T., Hitchcock I.S.D., Santa Fe I.S.D., Mark Kilroy Foundation, and other organizations.
